Hawaiʻi Island Veterans Memorial Inc. presents...
OUR STORY
The East Hawaii Jazz & Blues Festival is one of the most popular music events on the Big Island of Hawai'i, drawing sell-out crowds of local and out-of-state guests. What started out 9 years ago as an intimate Sunday afternoon wine & pupu fundraiser at the former Nihon Restaurant in Hilo, has evolved into the largest ongoing Jazz Festival in Hawaii, featuring 12 acts on three stages.
Held annually on the last Sunday of October at Nani Mau Gardens, the festival is the signature fundraising event for the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial Inc. The program features a lavish Pupu buffet, dessert station, wine and beer tasting, no host bar and non-stop music featuring some of Hawaii’s finest jazz and blues musicians along with highly acclaimed artists from the mainland.
Over the past two years, the festival has evolved into a week long series of performances, workshops and school visits leading up to Black & White Night; Hilo's premiere first Friday event.

For the last 7 years, the support and attendance for our Jazz & Blues Festival has helped us raise awareness and resources to achieve our mission: developing a combined Community Based Out-patient Clinic/ Veterans Center and a separate senior independent living community for our islands' 20,000 + active, reserve, and retired veterans as well as other eligible seniors.
Our veterans have, for years, needed an adequate combined medical Outpatient Clinic / Vet Center located in one location to meet critical health and veterans’ services needs.
An additional planned project phase is in the final stages of being implemented on our 7-acre site. This is a much needed affordable senior independent living community for senior veterans, their families and other qualified seniors.
